Do you realize the joy my soul has found in discovering your blog? I hope you know the amazing job you're doing because this blog has captivated my soul. Thank you thank you for making this blog. I love you!
Wow—thank you so much for your wonderful message. You guys always make me feel so great; it never ceases to amaze me that this little blog I put together makes people so happy. And it’s a truly fantastic thing to know that autumn and Halloween bring as much joy to other people as they do to me.
This is probably a good time to let you guys know that I’m going to be MIA for a while—I’m going in for surgery this Friday, so I won’t be at my computer for the forseeable future. This surgery’s a good thing, though, and hopefully I’ll be back in the saddle again sometime mid- or late-December.
Until then, stay spooky! You guys all rock my socks. <3
Thank you so much for recognizing Día de los Muertos as a day to be celebrated without Halloween. Having celebrated it all my life it means a lot to me to see it gain the respect it deserves outside of Halloween. You're one of the few Halloween blogs that seem to realize that and I truly appreciate it.
You are so very welcome!
It’s not my culture (I’m a Polish/Scots-Irish mutt girl), but I’ve always had a fascination with and interest in how other cultures celebrate and honour their ancestors and their dead.
I first became aware of Dia de los Muertos at a very young age through the writing of Ray Bradbury, and I’ve always thought it was a beautiful and amazing way to remember those that have passed on.
I know a lot of people think the two are interchangeable, and I try really hard to make the distinction between the two. That being said, in recent years, especially along the border between Mexico and America, there’s been a lot of crossover between the two holidays—and if I post something along those lines (which I was just about to do, funnily enough), I always make sure to point it out.
Thanks again for the encouraging words—I often get people giving me crap for posting things about Day of the Dead (thinking I’m ignorant about the difference between it and Halloween), so it’s always so wonderful to hear from people like yourself. You’ve made my day. =D
